Water in Art


It didn’t occur to me to look for water in famous paintings until I starting looking at water everywhere. And then I wondered how many famous painting, artwork considered really important to civilization, have water in them if not predominantly, then at least somewhere in the frame.

Since water is the lifeblood of humanity it makes sense that water would figure in to many aspects of our lives. Many cultures worship water (I’m thinking we should be doing more of that!) and so I’m doing a little digging to see how much water I can find in art…
